Also welcome are the friends or family of sufferers, and psychologists, therapists or other workers in the caring professions who wish to improve their understanding of these disorders.
The list was created by Alaric Williams and Peter Watts
The list is managed by Alaric. A word from him.
Hello there; I'm a Computing undergraduate at Imperial College, recovering from an unpleasant childhood which I suspect has left me with BPD (I doubt myself too much to really be sure!). I'll handle most of the technical aspects of list management.
And as for Pete:
Hi I'm 37, and a Psychology undergrduate student. I am recovering from a narcissistic/borderline personality disorder.
The archives of the PERSONALITY-DISORDERS List are available on the Web to list members only.

CONFIDENTIALITY
List posts are confidential. No post should be reproduced anywhere without the original poster's express permission.
FLAMING
Please be courteous in all posts to the list. Please refrain from saying anything to another member that you would not like said to yourself, even if you feel you have been provoked. If you feel you have been treated disrespectfully by another person, please indicate so in an assertive rather than agressive manner, e.g. simply say something like "I am hurt/offended" etc rather than by counterattacking.
Please do not "flame" (insult) others. People with personality disorder problems often have difficulty coping with perceived hurts and controlling their anger. Our hopes are that if conflict occurs it can be resolved by the list members themselves without action being required by us.
DISTURBING POSTS
Please be tactful when referring to sensitive topics that may be distressing to others, especially direct statements of intent to suicide or self-harm in any way. Please use a local resource such as a suicide crisis line if necessary so that help can be sent. It can be very distressing to know of a person's intent to suicide or self-harm when there is nothing one can do to prevent it. It is acceptable to talk of suicidal thoughts or urges to self-harm providing a suitable warning is made in the post subject field.
Other sensitive topics relate to abuse experiences, such as child abuse (sexual, physical or emotional) or abuse experiences as an adult. When discussing these experiences please clearly give a warning in the subject field.
LANGUAGE
Please use the cyber convention of using characters like %^&*@ to indicate your favourite profanity! also please avoid SHOUTING by using too many capitals.
ATTACHMENTS
Please do not attach binary files (images etc). if you wish to send the list binaries, please post an announcement so that they can be requested privately.
